About

Good Thief opened July 11, 2024, at 3336 Main Street, directly next door to Anh and Chi. Siblings Vincent and Amélie Nguyễn built it as the rebellious younger sibling to their family Vietnamese room: món nhậu share plates, binchotan skewers, and a cocktail program that Michelin singled out with both a 2025 Bib Gourmand and the Exceptional Cocktail Experience award. Vincent runs operations; Amélie is creative director; Kenji Nguyễn is chef de cuisine. Vysion Elter won Michelin’s 2025 Exceptional Cocktails Award for the bar program. The name and marketing lean Robin Hood: sticky fingers, late bites, charity reservation-by-donation options. The cooking is serious Vietnamese drinking-food culture translated for Mount Pleasant nights.

Michelin describes frog legs with mint and sweet-tangy glaze, garlic noodles with Dungeness crab, and a banana-peanut-Thai-chile mousse cake with coconut sorbet and fish sauce caramel. Night nhậu hours run late; day nhậu windows appear on weekends. Walk-ins are part of the house language; sticky-fingers happy hour deal windows rotate. Spirit-free cocktails are available. The format is drinks and share plates; Anh and Chi next door still owns the vermicelli-bowl lunch.

Pair with Anh and Chi for the full Main Street sibling night, or Lunch Lady when you want Saigon street-soup heritage on Commercial Drive instead of a cocktail bar.

Diners say

Night crowds talk about inventive cocktails, sticky share plates, and a louder, freer mood than Anh and Chi next door. Michelin’s cocktail award matches what locals already said about the bar. Frog legs, skewers, and crab garlic noodles show up in return visits. Late sticky-fingers hours pull the Main Street after-dinner set.

Caveats are noise, waits without a plan on peak nights, and a menu built for drinks and share plates rather than a classic pho bowl. People wanting a quiet family Vietnamese dinner usually stay at Anh and Chi. Good Thief is the nhậu and drinks sibling.
